The portfolio of EU pharmaceuticals products at axicorp is made up primarily of prescription-only medicines and comprises over 1,600 PZNs (pharmaceutical central numbers). Our broad and demand-focused selection covers a range of indications. These include neurology and multiple sclerosis, diabetes, oncology, rheumatology, HIV, allergy, dermatology, gynaecology and vaccines, to name but a few.

An up-to-date product list can be found in our portfolio summary. At our site in Friedrichsdorf, we repackage the imported original medicines after subjecting them to a quality check and in accordance with German medicines legislation for the German market.

This guarantees high-quality packaging designs appropriate for the original packaging. We also offer many of our medicines in our own, high-quality cardboard boxes.

What are EU pharmaceuticals?

EU pharmaceuticals are original branded medicines from international pharmaceutical companies that are purchased cheaply from other countries in Europe and imported. In terms of effectiveness and quality, they are completely identical to the original preparations and are also subject to all of the laws and standards of German medicines legislation. The lower prices come about through the difference in market prices between other EU countries and Germany. Essentially, there are two forms of import: re-imports and parallel imports.

EU pharmaceuticals as re-imports

Re-imports are branded preparations that are produced by a pharmaceutical company in Germany and exported to an EU country. We purchase these medicines from a pharmaceutical wholesaler in an EU country and import them back to Germany.

EU pharmaceuticals as parallel imports

Parallel imports are also branded preparations from multi-national pharmaceutical companies. They are originally manufactured in another EU country and then imported into Germany.

The advantages of EU pharmaceuticals

Low costs for the same quality

EU pharmaceuticals represent an equivalent alternative to expensive German original preparations. Put simply, this means

lower costs for exactly the same quality of treatment.

Even the healthcare policy has long since recognised that EU pharmaceuticals make a major contribution to reducing costs while offering identical quality. Every year, cost savings achieved in this way can save the healthcare system in Germany hundreds of millions of Euro.

Pharmacies are therefore obliged by the legislator to dispense low-cost EU pharmaceuticals to patients in order to meet the "import quota". The dispensed EU medicine must then be at least 15 per cent (for prices below € 100) or at least € 15 (for prices over € 100) cheaper than the German original. At axicorp, over 50 per cent of our products meet the criteria for this quota.

Attractive prices for patients too

For private prescriptions, such as for contraceptives, lifestyle products or certain vaccines, you as a patient can benefit directly from the lower prices of EU pharmaceuticals and save money. Simply ask at your pharmacy for an imported product from axicorp.

The lower total price for EU medicines on the till receipt means a lower co-payment for you in certain circumstances. If you save your health insurance company money with EU pharmaceuticals, then this will also benefit you as someone covered by health insurance: your health insurance company may keep your contribution rate stable, for example, or use the savings to provide other healthcare services.

Certified quality and verified safety

Effectiveness and safety are the basic requirements for any medicine. Lower-cost original medicines are purchased exclusively from qualified and regularly inspected EU suppliers. The medicines imported by axicorp come from the same domestic and foreign manufacturers as the preparations you already trust. This fact vouches for the products' identical quality. Go here to find out how we safeguard our high quality standards.

If axicorp applies for a licence to market an EU medicine in Germany, the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) checks whether the medicine is therapeutically identical to the German original. Only if this is the case will the licence be granted and the medicine allowed to be dispensed in Germany. Irrespective of this, the same requirements in terms of quality, effectiveness and harmlessness apply to medicines in all EU states. EU pharmaceuticals are therefore always of high quality and safe.
